There is a small break this and the next few weeks in my wedding season so I’ll be getting my blogger hat on and getting caught up on all the weddings and sessions so far from this year. There have been some amazing ones so stay tuned! 🙂 First up however is a little post on Arrae’s new home. Back in March I left the studio I was in, I subleased from another photographer and she decided not to renew the lease.  So on a new adventure I went, looking all over the city for a new space that would work for my clients, my budget, and my style. Though I did get to see many different spaces in the city not one felt right till I found this building. Right on the river by the old train bridge, it has so much character! I really loved the outside of the building and the space I first looked at was nice but kinda small and was gone before I could even make up my mind. Then the landlord called saying one of the tenants was leaving would I like to look at the (larger) space? Well of course I did!
So it took some creative imagining to see the potential in the space as it was. Below are some of the images I took at the negotiation stage of getting the space. It needed a lot of work but I did love it, so the talks began, a deal was made and a lease was signed. Yippee!!Â
Don’t you love it already! 😉 Again it needed a LOT of work luckily the landlord was willing to get it in a great ‘blank slate’ stage so it would be less work to get it shoot ready.
So with a fresh coat of paint on the walls, ceiling, beams, floor and trim as well as the faux wall frame being moved – fabulousness could begin! Below are some of the images from the ‘in process’ stage of the studio. It was so amazing to see it come together one coat of paint, one light fixture, one chair at a time.Â
So after all that it ended up like this….
Complete with meeting area and changing room. So many shoot options.Â
I have to say I am THRILLED with how it turned out. It exceeded my expectations! I love shooting here and love having a space to call my own and hang a sign from. I hope you all love it too, after all I did make it for you. 🙂 I’ve already started posting some of the sessions from the studio on the baby blog so go check them out. Of course I had to shoot my adorable trio there first, here are a few from their session.  Though I think ‘hot mess’ is more appropriate then ‘session’, they never listen to mama when she’s taking photos. But we did get a few gems. 🙂
Studio is located at 240 Front Ave, Grand Rapids. If you’d like to make an appointment for your portraits click contact above and get in touch today to schedule your session.
